What is the London Uni Connect programme?
The London Uni Connect partnership (formerly London NCOP) works with schools and colleges across London to increase awareness amongst young Londoners of the opportunities available in higher education. We support them to make informed decisions about their futures. We do this in the following ways:
- We offer guidance for teachers and advisers on the outreach activity available in their local area
- We help schools and colleges to access outreach activity that suits their specific needs
- We bring together the various local partners involved in HE outreach in London to foster greater collaboration
The London Uni Connect partnership is made up of three networks working in collaboration
(with Kingston University as lead Higher Education Institution):
A team of dedicated education professionals who believe in equality of opportunity. We work with over 50 partners to engage over 1,000 young people every year in collaborative outreach activities such as conferences, summer schools, subject taster sessions, student ambassador led sessions, application support and mentoring. Most of the young people we work with are from widening participation backgrounds and underrepresented groups. These activities raise awareness of opportunity, increase aspirations and support young people to make informed choices about their futures and improve their outcomes.
Founded in 2011 and a key division of London Higher, AccessHE is a pan-London organisation supporting under-represented groups throughout their higher education (HE) learner journeys. We do this by enabling HE institutions (HEIs), schools, and local authorities to achieve their objectives on widening access to HE and improving student outcomes more efficiently and effectively. With a strong membership of 22 HEIs and representation from schools and local authorities across London, AccessHE is the conduit for a wide range of collaborative projects and initiatives.
A unique established partnership of over 50 members including London higher education institutions, colleges and other organisations (London Councils Education and Skills Team, OCN London, Pearson and unionlearn). We have been in existence since 2006 and are based at Birkbeck, University of London. The core aims of our partnership are to support recruitment, retention and progression through higher education, in all its variety, including full and part-time, Higher and Degree apprenticeships and work-based learning, into employment.
